Tusayan Declares a State of Emergency

Saturday, November 30, 2019 -The small town of Tusayan, located just outside the South Entrance of Grand Canyon National Park on Arizona 64, has been without power since 3 AM Friday, when a winter storm stuck with high winds and heavy snow. Nearly two feet of snow fell before the storm cleared earlier Saturday morning and plows have been unable to keep up. Due to impassable roads and a lack of power for heat, Tusayan has declared a state of emergency. The American Red Cross has set up an emergency shelter at the Horace Albright Training Center inside Grand Canyon National Park. Those need a ride to the shelter can call 928-638-7302.
